An Introduction to Crossroads Wigan & Leigh
Crossroads Wigan and Leigh secured Big Lottery funding in December 2012 enabling us to continue to provide training and activities to carers residing in Wigan Borough until December 2015.
The 'We Have Lives Too' project will work with carers of all ages including young carers and carers in transition; we aim to assist carers meet their own expectations, from improving employment and education skills to discovering a new hobby or interest.
If you are a carer and would like to take part in our training but are unable to attend as the person you look after is unable to be left alone, we can provide and fund respite care to the cared for to enable you to attend our training.
We define a carer as someone who provides help and support to a partner, child relative, neighbour or friend, who could not manage without their support. This could be due to age, physical or mental illness, disability or substance misuse issues.
Please see the list on the adjoining page giving examples of the types of training we do. If you would like to take part in training or would like to receive a copy of our quarterly newsletter please ring 01744 612929 and ask to speak to a member of the 'We Have Lives Too' team.
